Product Overview:
GI (Galvanized Iron) Pipe Earthing is one of the most widely used and economical grounding systems designed to provide a low-resistance path to dissipate fault current safely into the earth. It is a traditional and proven method for earthing used across residential, industrial, and commercial installations.
π§ Construction & Installation
Electrode Material:
High-quality hot-dip galvanized iron (GI) pipe β corrosion-resistant and durable.
Typical Dimensions:
40 mm, 50 mm, 76 mm, or 100 mm diameter
2 m or 3 m length (as per site requirement)
Filling Material (Backfill):
A mixture of salt and charcoal is placed around the pipe inside the pit to retain moisture and improve conductivity.
The salt acts as an electrolyte, while charcoal enhances soil conductivity and moisture retention.
Installation Steps:
Dig a pit of 2.5 β 3 m depth.
Insert the GI pipe vertically (perforated up to 1.5 m).
Surround it with alternating layers of salt and charcoal (approx. 150β200 kg total, depending on soil condition).
Connect the earthing strip/wire (GI or copper) to the top using proper nuts, bolts, and clamps.
Water the pit periodically to maintain moisture.
